Chautauqua county RACES
Emergency Communications when you need it!
RACES or Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service is a FEMA mandate for each county in the state. We are managed by and report to the county emergency manager or his designee. RACES does not self-deploy but are deployed by the county emergency manager. We operate our own communications equipment but can also operate county equipment as directed.
Any licensed radio amateur over the age of 18 is eligible for membership in RACES if approved by the emergency manager
